Port Macquarie Hastings University of the Third Age (PMHU3A) is always on the lookout for a range of skills to help us provided services to our members. 

We always need  more assistance with:

  • Data Management
    • Monitor/maintain database 
      • knowledge of DBMS and SQL would be an advantage
    • Support Office and other Volunteers as required

  • Gardening
    help is required to keep our courtyard looking great.

  • Housekeeping
    • This is the end of day clean up.

  • Membership System
    Our membership systems use a third party product - UMAS - provided by SoftSys and the Victorian U3A network
    • Manage administration functions for UMAS
      • experience with managing or administering IT systems would be of advantage
      • training wil be provided.
    • Liaise with UMAS provider regarding maintenance, bugs, upgrades
    • Apply upgrades to UMAS as required

  • Office
    • some familiarity with office procedures are helpful but training will be given

  • PC and Network
    This function concerns the operation, maintenance and future planning of the PMHU3A computer network and its PCs, servers and network components. It requires the application of IT skills at a professional level in the following areas:
    • Dell Workstations, PCs and laptops
      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 Operating System
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other applications software
      • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems
    • PMHU3A Networking equipment
      • Dell servers, Juniper gateway and network switches, and network hubs – monitoring
        for issues and reference to specialists
      • Understanding of Gigabit Ethernet Network topology (LAN/WAN) and internet access implications
      • Understanding of Wi-Fi Network including Wireless access points
    • Ancillary Hardware
      • Maintenance (eg service or replacement of UPS batteries)

  • Tutor Support Team

    • Like being stimulated with a positive, enthusiastic team of like-minded people?
    • Join our Tutor Support Team.
      • The Essentials for TST are:
        • Be able to provide half a day per week.
        • Undertake a 10 to 12 hours of in-house training prior to starting with TST.
        • Have basic computer knowledge.
        • Be able to use a DVD player.
        • Be prepared to provide support to U3A tutors during your half day shift.
        • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Web
    Primarily, you would need to be able to answer queries and provide support to our members - the work can, in the main, be conducted from your home. 
    The duties would include
    • Publishing articles
    • Publishing photographs
    • eMail client configuration & support
    • web site support
    We would provide some training but you would need some knowledge of and experience with:
    • cPanel & FTP.
    • HTML and (ideally) CSS
    • a CMS - such as WordPress, Joomla or Drupal
